My apologies for taking so long to respond ... I had been checking frequently but missed the update until I noticed I wasn't the last poster ... Anyway ... so, the answer is no ... The truth of the matter is that PHP is more of an ANSI language than ASP or ASP.NET ...
As for the GPL and talking about making money, I can't fault you for not understanding it, cause I really don't understand it as well, but I do know for a fact that many people are very successful in an Open Source environment, so go figure ... All I can say is that it that it benefits people like me big time ... This also could be an entire forum on its own ... _________________ For excellent web services at affordable prices, please check out http://www.icuweb.net |

Well, ASP.NET isn't really a language. C# is, however:

Right - it would also benefit auto makers if steel were free. Do you know who doesn't benefit from steel being free, however? Steel producers. |

Yeah, so I really like scripting in PHP ... I find it effortless, familiar and extremely logical ... I can use it on Windows, Linux and FreeBSD ... I can also use it to perform scheduled system tasks that may or may not affect web sites running on the network ... I need only know one scripting language to perform all of the tasks necessary to complete my objectives ... I like that ... _________________ For excellent web services at affordable prices, please check out http://www.icuweb.net |

Yeah, so I really like writing compilable code in C# ... I find it effortless, familiar and extremely logical ... I can use it on Windows and all of my boxes are running Windows ... I can also use it to perform scheduled system tasks that may or may not affect web sites running on the network ... I need to know only one server side scripting language, plus javascript of course for client-side scripts, to perform all of the tasks necessary to complete my objectives ... I like that ... |

Go to Automation Access to read about the nails driving into Microsoft's coffin ...
Go to OpenSource.org to read the internal Microsoft memos that were accidentally leaked ...
I choose to know a language that will run on all systems ... _________________ For excellent web services at affordable prices, please check out http://www.icuweb.net |

Well, that went well. ... anyway, PHP is great does everything that need to be done without have to be pin'd to the corporate wall... and I'm all for that. But if "anyone" wants to talk shop let talk assembly. Then we can get stuff done...hehe
